SKAGGS was tasked with launching BIOEFFECT, the internationally award-winning line of EGF skincare products in the United States. An Icelandic company founded by scientists, BIOEFFECT developed a method of growing biorisk-free, genetically engineered proteins for medical research. With their method for bioengineering EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) in barley, they created a phenomenal skincare line. An immediate sensation first in Iceland, then in Europe, BIOEFFECT chose SKAGGS for their US launch. Beginning with a total redesign of the website for the US market, SKAGGS also created a brand book to tell the BIOEFFECT story, including explanations of the science in layman’s terms. SKAGGS also interviewed one of BIOEFFECT’s founders for an in-depth look into their ten year journey into research and development. With such a cutting edge company, it was critical to clearly articulate the science of the skincare while also letting the company’s personality and Icelandic flavor shine. All product photography, inspired by the dramatic Icelandic landscape (“a land of fire and ice,” glaciers and volcanoes), was done by Bradley Skaggs.
