Skaggs has extensive experience with luxury brands, but Maison MJZ provided us with a novel challenge: that of conveying the brand personality of an ultra-luxury house of couture that makes extravagant apparel very few can afford. Skaggs began with a brand essence study to determine the brand’s position in the market and define its key messaging. One result was a brand name change, from MJZ International to Maison MJZ, to better reflect the brand’s spiritual and physical home in Paris, France. Skaggs then embarked on a redesign of MJZ’s website, striking a balance between the brand’s brash, rock star, devil-may-care attitude and its rigorous craftsmanship of rare, exquisite primary materials. The glamorous combination makes for a swoon-worthy website, transporting the viewer to a hitherto unknown world of refined opulence.
